LANSON B. JONES FLORAL & EVENTS BEGAN AS A SEED OF AN IDEA ROOTED IN A LOVE FOR GARDEN ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN.
Since our inception, we have been pioneering unique and creative event concepts and executions in Houston, Texas and beyond to destinations in the southwest and southeast. We are a floral design team with a passion for linking our pieces back to the garden. Whether we are clipping bougainvillea straight from the garden to accent a bouquet or cultivating a collection of herb-inspired boutonnieres, the details drive our passion. We love to create. It is as simple as that. We work with a client directly to learn their vision, concept and aesthetic, pulling out the most important desires and executing it to the utmost detail. Whether you’re in the midst of wedding planning or busy coordinating flowers for an outdoor party, we will work closely with you to create breathtaking, noteworthy décor.
Brendan Joseph- General Manager of Floral & Events
Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Brendan arrived in Houston in 2010. Brendan brings with him 7 years of retail management experience to Lanson B. Jones – Floral & Events department. His crisis management tactics and organizing skills help events run smoothly and on time. Brendan attended the University of Houston-Downtown where he focused on supply chain and logistics management. He loves to inspire others and lead by example, strengths that he utilizes not only at work but also in his everyday life.
Lora Blackstone- Floral & Event Designer
Lora joins the Lanson B. Jones & Co. Floral + Events team as a Lead Designer with 5 years of design experience. While studying business at Texas A&M University, Lora interned with a Dallas wedding and events floral company and discovered a passion for working with flowers, caring for clients, and conceptualizing event design. This internship sparked a side business that Lora carried on ever since: producing weddings and events on her own time while working in marketing for an interior design firm. When Lora relocated from Dallas to plan her wedding to a Houstonian, she found that joining the Lanson B. Jones team as a lead designer was the leap into a design career that she had been dreaming of. She looks forward to growing the Floral + Events branch of Lanson B. Jones through a creative, detailed, and thoughtful approach to event design.
Bay Wilhite- Floral & Event Designer
As one of Lanson B. Jones newest employees, Bay joins LBJ with over 5 years of experience in the wedding industry. Bay left the Houston area after high school to study Agriculture Education at Texas State University where she landed an internship and was soon hired on with a wedding venue and florist outside of Austin. She leaves the Austin Wedding Industry and returns to her Houston roots as an awarded designer with over 500 weddings under her belt in floral and over 20 as coordinator. Aside from design and event planning, she truly loves meeting and connecting on a personal level with brides while making their wildest wedding dreams come to life.
Michael Allen – Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer at Lanson B. Jones & Co., Michael Allen is the business architect of the firm. Michael leads the executive team through organizational growth and development strategies that put the client at the center of business approach. He oversees the design, construction, and finance teams as well as new business development, and marketing groups. Michael has been in profit and non-profit organizational leadership for over 10 years. He was brought to the firm for his experience in organizational development, systems thinking, process development and improvement, employee and leadership development, and project management
Lanson B. Jones – Principal & Founder
A native Houstonian, Lanson attended Texas A&M where he obtained his degree in landscape architecture. Lanson served as the VP of Design at McDugald Steele for more than 14 years where he oversaw 50+ award-winning projects. He launched Lanson B. Jones & Company, in 1994 where he could focus all of his design efforts on The European Scaled Garden philosophy. In order to reach beyond just design and maintenance of a garden, Lanson launched Floral and Events in 2016.
Jennifer Leonard – Controller
With more than 18 years with our firm and 20 years of accounting and business management experience, Jennifer is a veteran at Lanson B. Jones & Company. She grew up in Houston and began studying business at a young age. From there, she went on to intern with Anadrill-Schlumberger and began her formal business education. While working full time, she finished both her undergraduate and master’s degrees with the full support of her family and Lanson B. Jones & Company.
Lauren Scott – Senior Buyer & Executive Assistant to Michael Allen, CEO
Originally from Corpus Christi, Lauren moved to Houston in 2010 to pursue her law career after graduating with a degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University. Lauren worked for several years in banking and brokerage before joining our team as a Design Associate in 2016. In 2017, Lauren became our Senior Buyer and Executive Assistant to CEO, Michael Allen. She now works with Michael to oversee departments and develop new processes that foster the company’s continued growth.
Abby Barrientos – Marketing Coordinator
Abby Barrientos serves as our marketing coordinator. She is responsible for all things social media, as well as our website, our branding, marketing materials, and increasing the exposure of Lanson B. Jones & Company through various mediums. She is a graduate of the University of Houston Valenti School of Communication, majoring in Public Relations and Marketing. Abby joined our team in 2017 as a floral intern, and still enjoys assisting Floral & Events to this day.
Kemi Assouline – AR & Bookkeeper
Kemi, a UCLA graduate with more than 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, ensures that all invoices at Lanson B. Jones & Company are both accurate and timely. Kemi has been with Lanson B. Jones & Co. for two and a half years. During her time at our firm, she has developed a great relationship with our clients and internal staff. Kemi takes pride in always meeting deadlines and reaching all goals.
Judy Alfaro – AP Manager & Executive Assistant to Jennifer Leonard, Controller
Judy was born and raised in Houston, TX from Salvadorian parents. As a first generation American, her ambitions were to acquire a higher level of education. She graduated with honors with an associates degree in Science from Houston Community College and is currently obtaining her degree in Petroleum Engineer at the University of Houston. With an extensive background in banking and finance, Judy is an essential part of our accounting team as an Accounts Payable Manager. As an Executive Assistant to Jennifer, she assists in developing efficient and high performing processes in her department. Judy’s passions are the arts, problem-solving and helping others.
